Volunteers

As we look forward to the return of golf on Wednesday, albeit for family members only, the committee has been working hard to ensure that measures are in place at Dorking to make sure we comply with all the rules agreed between the Government and England Golf.

One of the issues is how we manage access to the course for members and, in due course, green fees. We will not be able to open the clubhouse for normal service, thus all Allan's staff will remain furloughed and unable to work. So we will have to be reliant on members volunteering to carry out these marshaling duties.

A reception desk will be set up in the Marlborough Suite adjacent to a window opening on to the car park. We will set up the computer screen, the card reader for taking payment by credit and debit cards, including contactless payments and the phone. We have installed a fridge so we can dispense a limited range of beers, lagers and soft drinks; and the coffee machine to dispense hot drinks. Outside the window will be a hand sanitising machine and a dedicated area for trolleys for hire and the buggies. The only allowable access to the clubhouse will be to use the disabled toilet.

So we need volunteer to:-

• Monitor members, who should all have booked tee times, to ensure compliance with social distancing and adherence to tee times
• Answer the phone for queries on membership and direct green fees to book tee times and pay on-line
• Sell as many coffees and drinks as possible!
• Take payment for any trolleys and buggies and sanitise them on return
• At quiet times or when the course is full of members, take the buggy out and sell more drinks and ensure the social distancing

This list is not exhaustive but covers the main areas. We will be printing off lots of signs to help members and visitors as well as the volunteers so everything should be pretty simple.

We aim to cover the reception from 8.00 to 18.00 seven days a week so we would be looking for volunteers to cover every day split into 3 shifts.

If you are willing to help, please let me know by email or phone as soon as possible and we can then populate a register on-line to cover as many shifts as possible. Allan and some members of the committee will be at the club from 8.00 on Wednesday so if you are interested please pop in and we can show you what is involved.
